Form 3 Student drowns in Bomet dam

A family in Chepalungu, Bomet County, is in morning following the death of their 17-year-old son in what police believe could be death by suicide.

According to the police, the student, a day scholar,  may have intentionally thrown himself into a swollen dam in the area, leading to his death.

Police said that deceased was a Form 3 student at the nearby Kiproroget secondary school, in Chepalungu.

The student had reportedly been sent home to collect school fees, only for his body to be found floating in the dam moments after arriving home.

The Chepalungu police chief Phanton Analo said the body was discovered by members of the public.

“Our officers were informed by members of the public who happened to have been passing near the dam and saw the body floating,” said Analo.

The body has been moved to Longisa hospital mortuary.
