Family in mourning after boy, 7, dies after falling into pit latrine

A family living in Shauri Yako estate, Homa Bay town, is in mourning, following the death of their 7-year-old son after falling into a pit latrine. 

The body, identified as Emmanuel Blessing, is suspected to have fallen into the pit latrine at his grandfather’s home on Thursday, when he was left alone on the compound.

Blessing’s body was only discovered inside the pit latrine several hours after his family and neighbours had unsuccessfully searched for him around the area.

Locals have been urged to ensure they keep latrines closed to avoid endangering lives.
