Family in agony as prisons officer goes missing for four years
Led by their mother, Jane Muthike, the family said that efforts to locate David Karimi Muthike have been futile.
David's brothers, Isaac Kinyua and Peter Muthike, shared the pain of a family that could not even celebrate this festive season.
"He was serving as an officer at Rumuruti Prison before he went missing on December 20, 2020," Isaac explained, his voice laden with sorrow.
Jane Muthike, visibly distressed, pleaded for assistance in locating her son.
"We have no information about his whereabouts, and we continuously listen to local radio stations and watch television, hoping for any news that he might return."
His mother, visibly distressed, pleaded for assistance in locating her son, despite visiting Rumuruti GK Prison numerous times, in search of answers.
"David, 42 at the time, went missing while on leave. We thought he would return, but as time passes, our hope remains unfulfilled," she said, as tears streamed down her face.
For the past four years, the family has been enveloped in pain and uncertainty.
"Every night, I cry when I think about my son. Each day that passes without knowing where he is has caused me immense stress. I appeal for help from every corner of this country," she implored, her voice breaking with emotion.
