A female trader is reported to have died on Tuesday morning after she was stabbed in the neck by suspected thugs in Nyama Villa estate, Embakasi Central.

Residents told Wananchi Reporting that the woman was stabbed severally just as she left her house this morning.

According to the residents, three thugs riding a motorbike attacked the woman before attempting to escape.

The commotion – however – is said to have attracted residents who blocked sections of the estate as they pursued the suspects.

“The three men jumped onto a motorbike and tried to escape as residents pursued them on foot,” said one of the residents who identified herself as Anna Oliecha.

“A group of boda boda riders parked in the area blocked the fleeing thugs, hitting their bike and sending them scattering on the tarmac,” said John Kuria, a resident of the area.

One of the thieves was caught and beaten to death and his body burned – together with the motorbike.

A second one is said to have run and hid himself inside a brothel. The police are said to have combed the brothel after being called and reportedly arrested a suspect. A third suspect managed to escape.

Officers from Kayole Police Station arrived at the scene, took pictures of the charred body – before taking it away to the morgue.

Reports also indicate that the unidentified woman died from her wounds as she was being rushed to the nearby Mama Lucy Hospital.

Residents have raised concern over the rising cases of insecurity in the area.

Just recently, thugs broke into a school and carted away dozens of printing papers, seats, and other stationeries.

The residents now want the police to enhance security in the area.
