A middle-aged secondary school teacher from Ziwa area in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County is in police custody after being arrested for allegedly assaulting a 14-year-old boy.
The incident reportedly occurred after livestock being herded by the young boy strayed onto the teacher's farm.
According to reports, the teacher allegedly attacked the boy, inflicting injuries that caused him to bleed. Neighbors intervened to stop the assault and rescue the boy.
Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Benjamin Mwanthi confirmed the arrest, stating that the victim was immediately taken to Ziwa Sub-County Hospital for medical attention.
A P3 form, used for documenting injuries in assault cases, has been completed as part of the investigation.
"We received a report of an assault, and our officers responded promptly," said Commander Mwanthi.
"The boy received treatment, and the suspect is in custody. He will be arraigned in court in Eldoret Thursday to face the appropriate charges."
Mwanthi emphasized the importance of resolving disputes peacefully and urged residents to avoid taking the law into their own hands.
"There are proper channels for addressing grievances," he stated. "Resorting to violence only leads to further problems and potential legal consequences."
