Cyclists embark on journey from Mombasa to Kakamega to raise funds to treat arthritis
The journey, in its fifth phase, aims to collect funds for the facility based in Likuyani, Kakamega county, which will also act as a research centre.
Ali Shaban and Moses Ogola, who are among the cyclists who participated in the drive, said that many people living with arthritis have reduced productivity, and end up having to retire early because of challenges they face in doing everyday activities due to their condition.
Arthritis is the swelling and tenderness of one or more joints.
According to Mayo Clinic, the main symptoms of arthritis are joint pain and stiffness, which tend to worsen with age.
In addition to raising funds, the 'ride for arthritis' drive focuses on encouraging locals to engage in physical activity to improve overall health.
