Bungoma businesswoman killed in road accident as lorry driver tries to avoid hitting truck

A businesswoman was killed in an accident on the Eldoret-Webuye highway at the Chimoi slope in the Lugari constituency, Kakamega County, on Tuesday evening.

According to eyewitnesses, the woman was a passenger in a lorry ferrying maize from Eldoret to Bungoma.

The ill-fated lorry collided with another lorry while trying to avoid a sugarcane truck and overturned.

One eyewitness by the name Clement said the businesswoman died on the spot, while the driver escaped with minor injuries. 

The body of the businesswoman who was said to be from Bungoma was taken to the Webuye mortuary as police from Matete police station launched investigations.

The accident happened a day after another incident in Lwandet where a lorry carrying fuel overturned.

No death was reported in the Lwandet incident.
