Boy, 9, drowns in a fish pond in Yatta, Machakos County

A 9-year-old boy has died after he drowned in a fish pond in Machakos County.

Police said that the incident happened at Mamba A village located in Ndalani, Yatta Constituency.

The Grade Four pupil had reportedly accessed keys to the gated fish pond without the knowledge of his parents.

Area Chief Cosmas Kaloki said that the body was retrieved by locals in Mamba Sub Location.

The body has been taken to Mbaku Funeral Home in Matuu.

Police added that investigations are ongoing.
