Boda boda rider killed after being run over by trailer ferrying cement to Garissa

The rider had been involved in another accident when trying to navigate the road, which is in a poor condition following floods.

The rider swerved off to avoid being hit by another trailer and it is while he was lying on the ground that the trailer ferrying cement ran him over.

Amina Omar, who witnessed the accident, said, “The driver seemed not to have seen the rider lying on the road and by the time he realised, it was too late to stop and he ended up running the man over.”

Residents called for the government to urgently fix the road to avoid other deaths.

David Mutea, a resident, said, “This is not the first death we have witnessed because of the poor state of the road. Many people use this road to get to their places of work, so it needs to be fixed urgently.”
