'Beba beba' trolley operators decry 'theft' of tools of trade

A section of youths who operate trolley carts, popularly known as 'beba beba', in Nairobi CBD are crying foul over what they describe as theft of their trolleys.

The group said their trolleys were taken away in the name of clearing the streets, but are pointing an accusing finger at a section of county officials whom they say are using it as an excuse to make away with the trolleys.
They said they left their tools of trade at their usual place when the county government cleaners went and took them away.

"They did not take the trolleys to Nairobi City stores but sold them to scrap metal dealers in Kariobangi. We found  them dismantling the trolleys," one operator said.

The county government was yet to comment on the matter by publication of this story.

The group said the matter was reported to Kamukunji police station and the scrap metal dealer was arrested then released and is yet to be arraigned.
