80-year-old woman travelling from Nairobi dies inside bus

The police have identified the elderly woman as Margaret Dima — and who may have been travelling alone from Nairobi.

According to the police, the woman had boarded the bus belonging to ENA Coach Company in Nairobi, and was heading to Usenge, in Bondo, when she reportedly died.

“The body of the granny was discovered by a fellow passenger who then alerted the driver of the vehicle just a few kilometres from Bondo town,” said the Bondo Sub-County Police Commander Robert Aboki.

“The driver then drove the bus together with all the passengers to Bondo police station where he reported the incident,” added Aboki.

The driver told the police that the elderly woman looked sick at the time of boarding the bus in Nairobi — and had even been reserved a more comfortable seat at the back of the bus.

It is, however, not clear if the granny had been travelling alone from Nairobi.

The body of the woman has been taken Bondo Sub-county hospital mortuary for preservation and  postmortem.
