42 unclaimed bodies lie at Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary
At least 42 unclaimed bodies are lying at Baringo County Referral Hospital Mortuary.
According to the health facility's Medical Superintendent Garrishon Abakhalwa, 33 of the unclaimed bodies are those of newborns who died due to birth-related complications.
"The other 9 bodies are adults. The bodies remain uncollected thus congesting the mortuary in the hospital," Abakhalwa told Citizen Digital.
He added that the situation has overwhelmed the morgue attendants, affecting their services in the long run.
"Some of the unidentified bodies were brought in by police officers. We are in the process of seeking a court order so that we can dispose them off," the medic added.
He has in the meantime urged residents or families that have filed missing person reports to visit the hospital in a bid to identify the bodies.
