25-year-old man allegedly dies by suicide in Kericho County

A 25-year-old man has allegedly died by suicide in Kipkelion, Kericho County.

Residents reported that the man, identified as Festus Bore, an employee of a government parastatal, was found dead in his house.

Villagers claim that the man's death stemmed from a long-standing domestic dispute with his wife who had reportedly returned to her matrimonial home recently.

Witnesses recounted that the deceased, who showed signs of distress, had threatened to take his own life on Tuesday, prompting an emotional plea from his father to change his mind.

However, the deceased seemed resolute and retreated to his room, where he eventually fell asleep.

Later that day, he woke up, untied a rope tied to his cow, and used it to hang himself from the rafters inside his house.

His mother's concerns mounted as she took a while to wake up, prompting her to investigate.

On approaching his house, she knocked on the door and called out to her son, but it remained locked from the inside.

She then peered through a window and was met with a horrific sight of her son; unconscious and suspended from the rafters, having succumbed to his earlier suicidal intentions.

The incident was reported at Kipkelion police, and the body taken to Londiani sub-county hospital mortuary.
