Airbnb has announced a significant expansion
of its offerings with the launch of Airbnb Services, Airbnb Experiences, and an
all-new app designed to integrate homes, services, and activities under one
platform.
The company says the move aims to
redefine travel by offering not just places to stay, but also curated local
experiences and in-home services such as massage, personal training, and
chef-prepared meals.
“Seventeen years ago, we changed the
way people travel. More than two billion guests later, Airbnb is synonymous
with a place to stay,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO.
“With the launch of services and
experiences, we’re changing travel again. Now you can Airbnb more than an
Airbnb.”
Airbnb Services will be available in
260 cities at launch, across 10 categories including chefs, photography,
massage, spa treatments, personal training, and more.
The company says these services are
provided by experienced professionals, many of whom are leaders in their
fields. Services are priced to accommodate a range of budgets, with some starting
at under $50 (approx. Ksh.6,400).
“People choose hotels for their
services. People choose Airbnbs for the space,” Chesky added. “Now, we’re
giving you the best of both worlds – amazing homes with services that make them
even more special.”
Airbnb Experiences, which are hosted
by local experts, are being relaunched in more than 650 cities.
They include food tours, cultural
experiences, outdoor adventures, and Airbnb Originals—exclusive experiences
hosted by public figures such as Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter, and
Patrick Mahomes.
“Today’s travel activities offer no
real connection to the city you’re visiting,” said Chesky. “The most authentic
way to explore a city is with the locals who know it best. With Airbnb
Experiences, don’t just see a place – experience it.”
To support the new offerings, Airbnb
has redesigned its mobile app. The updated app features a personalized
itinerary, local recommendations, upgraded messaging, and new tools for hosts.
