Zico and KCB prepare second swing after near miss
KCB FC head coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno says they are focused on doing the things they did better as they load up for another swing at the FKF Premier League title which they narrowly lost to Tusker FC.
The Bankers fought Tusker in a topsy-turvy title race with both clubs often exchanging leads but the latter had the final say, edging that battle by three points in a victory confirmed on final of the season.
Speaking during the end of season party at a Nairobi hotel, Zico says they cannot worry about what their rivals are doing but are only keen to fix what they felt could be improved.
“We won’t panic buy because our title rivals are busy in the market we have a plan and a proper structure to strengthen our team ahead of next season and trust ,me we will have a strong team that will fight for the title and possible win it next season,” Zico said.
Team captain Simon Munala said they will use the lessons they have learnt from missing the title by a whisker to fight hand and dethrone the current champions the title next season
“No one expected us to come this far when last season started we have proved we can fight for the league and now we are viewed as one of the favorites we learnt our lessons last year and we will build on that even stronger to win the title,” the skipper said.
His sentiments were echoed by the team’s most valuable player in the just concluded season Badi Baraka
“It is through hard work that I have won this title thanks to my teammates and the technical bench who have really supported me through the season. Next season I promise to give even more and make our fans and sponsors proud and hopefully win the title which is our desire ,”Badi told Citizen Digital
The bankers finished second last season three points behind Tusker fc in the league standings
