Kenya’s Julius Yego continued his steady resurgence with a season’s best throw of 84.51m to claim second place at the inaugural NC Classic 2025, held at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday.
The 2015 world champion and Olympic silver medallist hit his best mark on the fourth attempt, signalling strong form as he eyes a return to the global podium at the World Championships in Tokyo this September.
India’s Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, stole the spotlight with an 86.18m throw on his third attempt to win the event named in his honour, thrilling the home crowd.
Sri Lanka’s Rumesh Pathirage secured third with a best of 84.34m, while India’s Sachin Yadav, the 2025 Asian Championships silver medallist, placed fourth with 82.33m.
