Why Matano wants to quit Tusker even after title triumph
Tusker
FC tactician Robert Matano is an unhappy man after guiding the brewers to a
13th league title.
Speaking
after the brewers bagged the gong with a 2-0 win over Posta Rangers on the
final day of the campaign, Matano claimed he is disrespected, threatening to
ditch the Kenyan Premier League giants citing sabotage from an unnamed
official.
"I have struggled with this team and I don't think I will be here anymore. I will certainly leave. I am not respected in this team at all. There is someone who doesn't want me here but I am happy I have proved him wrong, " he said.
The former AFC Leopards boss said it was appalling to be on the receiving end of disrespect despite guiding the team to back to back league titles and struggling throughout to build a winning team.
Matano,
the most successful local coach, has won three league titles with Tusker
(2012,2021 and 2022).
He
also won the title with Sofapaka in 2009 and as well as inspired Leopards and
Nairobi City Stars to clinch the cup competition in 2005 and 2017 respectively.
Rumours
are rife the seasoned tactician is headed to Kenya Police who have been
spending heavily since their promotion to top flight League.
