Why Bandari coach Kimani expects competitive KPL season
Bandari FC head coach
Antony Kimani is anticipating a very competitive FKF Premier League season when
the league kicks off mid this month.
Kimani says many top
teams have done proper recruitment during the transfer window hence increasing
the number of teams that will be fighting for the title.
“It is going to be a
very competitive season from the way many teams have recruited players, and the
fact that they have had three months of pre-season so I see more teams fighting
for the title,” said Kimani.
Kimani went on to thank
the new sports cabinet secretary Ababu Namwamba for quickly moving in to solve
the football menace that had rocked the country saying it has brought
motivation among the players who had been in cold for the last three months.
“He has moved with speed to solve the crisis,
the players and all football stakeholders are very excited and motivated ahead
of the return of football in the country …so it is a good thing we have seen
recently ,” added Kimani.
The coastal based side
was to play Police FC in what would have been their last pre-season friendly
but it is unlikely to happen since the two teams might face each other in their
first match of the season if the federation was to stick with the fixtures
released by the transition committee in August.
However, despite that, the
former AFC Leopards coach says they will still be ready for the season.
“That was to be a very
good friendly to taste ourselves against one of the teams that will be fighting
for the title but despite that we have prepared well and we are ready for the
start of the new season,” the former Kenyan international told Citizen Digital.
