The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Men's National League 4th leg kicked off on Thursday at Nyayo Gymnasium Stadium, with Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) overpowering Western Prisons in straight sets (3-0).
Despite putting up a fight in the
opening set, Western Prisons lost momentum in the second and third, going down
25-23, 25-16, and 25-18.
Western Prisons captain Naaman
Jirongo acknowledged their struggles with reception and blocking but remained
optimistic about improving in upcoming matches.
"The team is good. We lost momentum in the second set. Our biggest problem today was reception and blocking, but we are going to work on it. We have games ahead, and we need to improve. Volleyball is all about teamwork, and we need to come together as a unit," observed Jirongo.
Western Prisons currently sit 13th on
the table with just three points, having won only one match and suffered six
defeats so far.
On the other hand, KDF captain Antony
Chimanyi expressed confidence in their training efforts, stating that they aim
to take each game at a time while keeping their title hopes alive.
"We were expecting to win, and
we have seen the results of our training. There are a lot of teams ahead of us,
but we plan to take it one game at a time. The title is still within reach, and
with one game down, we are looking to win the remaining three."
