WBLA championships: Equity Hawks fall to REG of Rwanda
National
women’s basketball league defending champions Equity Hawks fell 86-73 to REG of
Rwanda in the Women Basketball League Africa (WBLA) champions that is ongoing
in Tanzania
Equity started
the game on the wrong foot losing the first quarter 14-25 before losing the
second quarter too, 21-25, as the game went to halftime break with the scores
standing at 50-35 in favour of the Rwandans.
After the break, Equity came out much stronger winning 22-18 before REG bounced back with a win of 18-16 in the last quarter as the game ended 86-73 at the final buzzer in REG’s favor.

Zakayo, Mellisa Otieno, Maryann Nyagaki and new signing Judith Edward Pantaleo
adding 42 points combined.

Equity who landed a wild card to the AWBL after finishing third in the Zone Five qualifiers and ended up finishing sixth in Alexandria, Egypt, at the continental showpiece are looking to return to the Africa’s elite club championship.’

opening match on Sunday, the bankers hammered Gladiators of Burundi 73-57 in Group
‘C’ match and will be winding up with Fox Divas of Tanzania in their last group
match on Tuesday.
