Olympic 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi will be out for “something special” tonight at the Herculis Diamond League in Monaco, France.

The men’s 800m is shaping up as a blockbuster clash. Wanyonyi, fresh from two Diamond League wins  including a world-leading 1:41.95 in Stockholm — lines up against a loaded field featuring Olympic silver medallist Marco Arop (Canada) and bronze winner Djamel Sedjati (Algeria).

Also in the mix is the sensational  Tshepiso Masalela (Botswana), Mohamed Attaoui (Spain), and home favourite Gabriel Tual. The race, likely set on world-record pace, is scheduled for 9:23pm 

In the men’s 3000m steeplechase at 9:34pm, World U20 champion Edmund Serem and Olympic bronze medallist Abraham Kibiwot will take on Olympic champion Soufiane El Bakkali (Morocco) and Ethiopia’s Samuel Firewu.

At 9:43pm, world 800m champion Mary Moraa teams up with Nelly Chepchirchir in the rarely-run 1000m.

Later at 10:05pm, 2022 World silver medallist Jacob Krop will fly the lone Kenyan flag in the men’s 5000m. He will battle Ethiopia’s trio of Yomif Kejelcha, Hagos Gebrhiwet, Haile Bekele, and Bahraini Birhanu Balew .
