Wairimu’s hat-trick seals stunning 3K FC comeback against Mombasa Stars

Michael Wairimu was the hero for 3K FC, scoring a hat-trick—two of which came from the penalty spot—while Rodgers Okumu and Timothy Omondi found the net for Mombasa Stars.
The home side, Mombasa Stars, dominated the opening 10 minutes, creating several scoring opportunities through striker Rodgers Okumu. However, they were unable to convert their chances.
Their pressure finally paid off in the 13th minute when Timothy Omondi rose above the 3K FC defence to head Abdulrahman Said's corner kick past goalkeeper Daniel Maina, giving Mombasa Stars the lead.
In the 23rd minute, Mombasa Stars doubled their advantage. A foul on striker Athman Salim in the penalty area led to a penalty, which the experienced Rodgers Okumu confidently converted.
With just 10 minutes remaining in the first half, 3K FC pulled one back. Michael Wairimu finished off a superb assist from Glen Githinji, reducing the deficit and giving the visitors hope going into the break.
At the start of the second half, Mombasa Stars were forced to make several substitutions due to injuries to Mwenzah Mwema and Ali Ghalib and Abdulrahman Said's fatigue.
In the 65th minute, Wairimu struck again, converting his second penalty after Onesmus Juma was fouled by Hawkins Ademba in the box.
Just 12 minutes later, Wairimu completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot once more. This time, Stars goalkeeper Ally Omeyar fouled Juma in the area, and Wairimu sent the keeper the wrong way to complete the comeback for 3K FC.
3K FC's head coach, Francis Chage, praised his team's resilience in securing the full three points on the road.
"We started poorly in the first 29 minutes, conceding two goals, but I’m happy with how we fought back to win the match," said Chage.
On the other side, Mombasa Stars' head coach, Mohammed Hussein "Madaga," was frustrated by the officiating, which he felt contributed to his side's defeat.
"We played well, but the referee gave two easy penalties to our opponents, which I don't believe were correct. This decision killed the morale of our players," Madaga stated.
3K FC's remarkable comeback leaves them with much to celebrate, while Mombasa Stars will have to regroup after a tough loss.
