Viutravel partners with Patrons Cup ahead of third edition tee off

During the tournament’s official launch, Muthaiga Golf Club chairman Kavit Bhakoo, revealed that the event will feature 15 elite clubs battling it out across five pools.

"The tournament itself is growing to all corners of Kenya. It is becoming more inclusive and for the first time this year we have pros of Kenya, juniors, amateurs and more importantly the ladies who are playing this tournament," noted Bhakoo.

The tournament's director, Dr Wyckliffe Kaisha, thanked the sponsors for supporting the tournament saying it will have far-reaching benefits for the sport.

"We are very grateful for the sponsors of this tournament, Viutravel, who do various travel packages including golf around the world," he acknowledged.

Furthermore, Kaisha has urged golf enthusiasts and fans to turn up as he termed the event as all-inclusive.

“The play is by the golfers but we have a lot of activities lined up and we welcome all mbers from various clubs including members of the public to come and see what golf is about.”

On his part, Kenya Golf Union chairman David Ndung’u tipped this year’s edition to be competitive.

"We expect to see a lot of tough competition as the teams fight it out. In every category, the team that finishes last will be relegated to the category below. For the four lower categories, the teams that finish first will be promoted to the category above," Ndung'u said.

Since the launch of the cup in 2022, Muthaiga Golf Club have clinched the title in two successive editions, and the club's chairman Kavit Bhakoo is hopeful they will win it for the third time.

"Hopefully we will retain the title like we did last year and since its inception in 2022," Bhakoo said.

The tournament is organised to honour the legacy of Kenya’s third President, the late Mwai Kibaki.
