Vihiga Queens ready to rip up KWPL second leg in title pursuit
Nyamunyamu has already fired warning shots ahead of the second leg of the season after his side blew hot and cold in the first half of the campaign.
Vihiga Queens currently sit fifth on the log with 17 points, four adrift of leaders Kibera Soccer Women, having won five matches out of the possible nine, drawing two and losing two.
“We want to reclaim our title. We lost momentum last season but we are working hard to win the title once again. We will restructure in the second leg, work on our weaknesses and earn maximum points,” said Nyamunyamu.
“We’ve had a problem in converting our chances in the first half of the season and were working round the clock to solve the situation. We lost important points because we couldn’t finish off our dinner and it’s something that worries me.”
The four-time league champions relinquished their title to Police Bullets last season and suffered a huge blow following departures of key attackers Emily Morang’a and Tumaini Waliaula before the new campaign.
Waliaula, the last season’s league top scorer earned her first professional stint at Seirenes Grevenon in Greece while Morang’a was roped by their title rivals Kenya Police Bullets.
The Vihiga based side will kick off their second leg of the season against Kisped Queens on Saturday with preparations hitting top gear to bag maximum points.
“Kisped Queens are a good side but we are going there to get maximum points. We have been prepared well for the game and we are confident we will win,” he added.
A win on Saturday will see them leap Kenya Police Bullets, Ulinzi Starlets and Bungoma Queens who will be in action on Sunday.
