Vihiga Queens head coach Boniface Nyamunyamuh says a 4-2 win over Bunyore Starlets over the weekend has put the FKF WPL title on the line.
Strikes from Diana Cherono, Noel Amutata and Martha Amunyolete, along
with an own, were enough for the Kidundu-based side to secure maximum points.
The four times champions are now are placed
third with 34 points; one adrift of second-placed Kenya Police Bullets as
Ulinzi Starlets occupy the third position with 30 points. Bungoma Queens wrap
up the top five with 25 points.
“The match against Bungoma was a tactical one.
I thank my players for giving it their best and it’s my hope that they will
continue with the winning streak. I’m just urging them to be more focused and
to win the rest of the matches as it will be a big boost for us in the quest
for clinching the title this season.”
Nyamunyamuh
however said he needs to work on his striking department which has been shaky
in the previous matches.
“I have
also noted that my striking department is a bit shaky something which needs to
be rectified. We recruited new strikers but I feel they have not gelled -
something I’m working on- going to the next fixture. Our aim is to win the
title and I believe we can achieve it”
