The USIU Tigers outlasted the NBK Basketball team Phoenix 74 -65 in a highly entertaining Kenya National Basketball League (KNBL) match played at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium on Saturday.

The clash was highly engaging as both teams looked to have equaled each other's might as the Tigers took a three-point lead with the first quarter ending 20-17.

The second quarter was however an unforgettable period for the bankers as they found themselves in murky waters as they were drowned 27-5 by the university side who were relentless.

Defensive mishaps, unfortunate injuries, multiple turnovers, and the even more evident negative body language was the story for the Emmanuel King coached outfit.

The third quarter was different for the bankers as they rallied to tally a 25-13 win to set up an exciting fourth quarter.

The fourth quarter saw both teams try to outmatch the other, with the Phoenix making it a game when they brought the game out within five.

The 18-14 fourth quarter win for the Phoenix was a tale of a team beginning to find its footing but it would turn out a little too late for them as it would be the Tigers, led by Vitu Mponela; who was outstanding in the evening; making plays for his team, to win the game 74-65.
