‘United’ Zoo target top eight finish in KPL
Zoo Kericho FC head coach Herman Iswekha says their Kenyan Premier League (KPL) resurgence has been fueled by player discipline and backed his side to finish inside the top eight places.
Zoo have won four of their last five matches with that impressive run pushing them into 11th on the KPL standings ahead of Wednesday’s away match against Western Stima at Moi Stadium in Kisumu.
Last season, Zoo marginally survived relegation and came within just three points of falling into the promotion playoff spot but have enjoyed a much better start to their campaign this year.
According to Iswekha, a top eight finish his goal is achievable because of the team’s ‘unity, discipline and hard work.’
“My players are ready to learn and very disciplined.Everytime i tell them to come for training they keep time.It is the unity in our team that will enable us finish at top eight,” Iswekha said.
His sentiments were echoed by the team’s captain Sammy Sindani saying ‘Zoo is not only a football team but family’.
“Our coaches normally wonder on how United we are, regardless of the number we play.We converse as brothers and I keep telling them to work hard so that we have a great finish this season,” Sindani said.
Zoo have never been relegated from the KPL since earning promotion in 2017 despite consistently losing its best players including Nicholas Kipkirui (Gor Mahia FC), Isaac Kipyegon (AFC Leopards) and Mike Madoya (Tusker FC).
