Umoja basketball head coach Isaac Munyoki is bracing for a tough test when his team faces his former club, Equity Dumas, in a national men’s basketball premier league match set for Friday night at Nyayo Gymnasium.

Despite several injury concerns in his squad, Munyoki believes his team is ready to put up a strong fight.

“We expect a highly competitive game. Equity Dumas are very solid defensively and also quite effective on offence,” Munyoki said.

“We just need to play good basketball, take care of the little details. I’m dealing with a few injuries, but I believe the rest of the players will step up and handle both ends of the floor.”

Umoja will return to action on Sunday night against Ulinzi Warriors, another title contender, as they continue to push for a strong finish to the regular season.

Munyoki expects Ulinzi to be especially motivated following their recent 53–59 loss to UON Terror.

“Ulinzi are one of the best teams in the league. We have to be extremely physical and execute our sets well,” he said. “I urge our fans to come out in large numbers to support Umoja. And to all basketball lovers in Kenya, come and be part of the action,” Munyoki said.

ANU Coach Ready for Packed Weekend

Africa Nazarene University (ANU) head coach Michael Oluoch is also preparing for a demanding weekend, with both ANU Panthers (women’s team) and ANU Wolfpacks (men’s team) lined up for a series of crucial matches.

The Panthers will take on USIU Flames, The Swish, and Stanbic Aces in the women’s premier league, while the Wolfpacks will clash with USIU Tigers, NBK Phoenix, and Equity Dumas in the men’s division.

“It’s a tough schedule, especially coming off a long holiday break,” said Oluoch.

“My players aren’t yet back to 100 per cent form, but we’ve prepared well. We hope for good results, and we’ll give it our best.”
