Ulinzi Stars, Tusker reach FKF Cup semis
Both sides were tied at 1-1 in regular time, forcing the quarters clash to be decided on post-match penalties where Ulinzi prevailed.
They thus joined Tusker FC who booked their slot earlier on with a 2-0 win over KCB FC thanks to goals from David Odoyo and Shaphan Siwa.
The next set of semi-finalists will be decided on Sunday when Kakamega Homeboyz battle Kariobangi Sharks and AFC Leopards take on Bandari FC.
The semis will see Ulinzi midfielder Boniface Muchiri return for a clash against his former employers Tusker where he made his name as a star player.
“We are not scared to meet Tusker FC in the semi finals. We got what it takes to win as we have won today against Sofapaka and with determination and drive we will win again," Muchiri said.
The clash is a rematch of the 2016 final where Tusker won 2-0.
Ulinzi are looking to win the competition for the first time in their history having lost in the final on two occasions - in 1996 and 2016.
Ulinzi Stars sit seventh on the FKF Premier League standings while Tusker are second, two points behind leaders Gor Mahia FC.
