Ulinzi Stars, Homeboyz share the spoils in league match
Ulinzi Stars FC forced a 1-1 draw away at Kakamega Homeboyz in an entertaining FKF Kenya Premier League match played on Saturday afternoon at Mumias Sports Complex in Kakamega County.
Homeboyz talisman Moses Shumah slotted a 32nd minute
penalty kick to put the hosts ahead after midfielder Glen Masava was fouled in
the box.
Ulinzi came back roaring in the second half and capitalized
on Homeboyz defensive lapse when Ammaton Samunya headed in from Bornface
Muchiri corner kick to even the scores.
Homeboyz striker Oliver Majak one-on-one effort to win the
match in the extra time was punched away by Ulinzi goalkeeper Rick Omondi.
Ulinzi Stars head coach Danstan Nyaudo was satisfied with
the hard-earned point away from home, but lamented on the back- to-back
fixtures in the league causing fatigue to players.
"I’m happy with how my boys played especially in the
second half; Homeboyz is a good team, though the players looked fatigued
because of the congestion in fixtures, I think the federation should look into
that," he said.
On the other hand Kakamega Homeboyz assistant coach Paul
Okatwa wasn't happy with his strikers for failing to capitalise on the chances
they created.
"We are to blame for allowing Ulinzi to get a draw
here, our strikers missed several chances to score, but we will work on our
final third in training," he said.
