Tusker FC secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Mara Sugar to pick their second win on the trot in the captivating FKF Premier League midweek encounter at Dandora Stadium on Wednesday.

The win saw the Brewers move fourth in the league standings on 15 points, six adrift of leaders KCB although they have played one fewer match.

The former champions wasted no time asserting their dominance, taking the lead just 60 seconds into the match through Shaphan Siwa who unleashed a ferocious strike after being expertly set up by James Kibande.

Second-placed Mara Sugar, who are having a dream start to life in the top flight football, however showed their mettle, silencing the home crowd just six minutes later through Meshack Karani as the two teams headed to halftime levelled 1-1.

The second half saw Tusker FC regain their composure and went ahead again just after three minutes  as Ryan Wesley Ogam produced a moment of brilliance to slot past Felix Adoyo.

It was Ogam’s seventh goal of the season, level with Francis Kahiro as they lead the goal scoring charts in the top-tier league.

“We played according to the instructions, and the teamwork was exceptional. It’s a performance to emulate,” said Tusker coach Charles Okere, praising his team’s discipline and execution.

His opposite number George Midenyo expressed concern over his team’s recent slump.

“We’ve been conceding early goals, and that’s something we need to address urgently. The boys need to stay alert from the first whistle,” Midenyo lamented.

They continue to make waves in their maiden FKF Premier League campaign despite their recent blip, with only five points adrift of the leaders KCB.

They have accumulated 16 points from ten matches, boasting four wins, four draws, and just two losses—a remarkable start for the league debutants.

Tusker’s victory moves them to fourth on the log with 15 points and a game in hand, keeping them firmly in the race for the top spots.
