Tusker hotshot Ryan Ogam wins December SJAK award

Tusker FC and Harambee Stars forward Ryan Ogam was on Wednesday named the LG/Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) Sports Personality of the Month (SPOM) for December 2024.
Ogam, 20, has taken the league by storm in his first season, notching 13 times to lead the scoring charts as Tusker continue to benefit from his heroics to remain in the FKF-Premier League title race, sitting second on the log level on points (36) with leaders Police.
The youngster scored six goals in December to propel the former champions to the top places of the standings to strengthen their bid to recapture the league title.
For his achievement Ogam, was awarded with an LG 55” NanoCell TV retailing at Sh118,000.
“I first want to thank God for this award and also to thank the sponsors LG East Africa for making this to happen. To me it’s a big morale boost and it means people are acknowledging my efforts which I put on the pitch. This award will give me more strength to continue scoring goals and help my club to clinch the FKF PL title” said Ogam.
On his part, LG East Africa head of corporate marketing Jane Kariuki congratulated Ogam for clinching the award saying as sponsors they will continue with the partnership to ensure many sports personalities are acknowledged and honoured.

Ogam’s coach Charles Okere hailed his achievements saying he will fuel their quest to clinch the title.
“To me I also want to thank LG na Sjak for awarding our lethal striker, He is a talented player and capable of scoring goals. As Tusker fraternity we congratulate and wish him well and it’s our prayer that he will continue scoring goals in this second round of the league as we aim to win it.”
To win the LG/SJAK SPOM, Ogam edged out Olympics 5,000m and 10,000m champion Beatrice Chebet who broke the World 5km record on December 31, 2024 in Barcelona.
Other nominees for the award included Makueni Women Representative Rose Museo, who won the East Africa Inter-Parliamentary Games People Living with Disabilities (PWD) darts title in Mombasa.
Also up for the award were the Nairobi City Thunders duo of Garang Ding and Albert Adera, who guided the team to becoming the first Kenyan side to qualify for the Africa Basketball League (BAL).
Robert Mcligeyo, who won the 2024 Kenya National Chess Championship (KNCC) unbeaten, and Kenya's national golf team captain winner of the last leg of the Kenya Golf Championship (KGC) last leg in Nyali, Mombasa, also stood out, as did Bernard Koyoko, who won his maiden Kenya Scrabble national title.
World Half Marathon champion Sebastian Sewe Kimaru, who won the Valencia marathon on his 42km road race debut was also in contention for the award as well as Wahome Mutahi, for his exploits in winning the East and Central Africa FIM Motocross Challenge at Vipingo Ridge in Mombasa.
