Tusker FC’s title hopes bolstered by Luvanda’s return

Tusker FC's title ambitions have received a major boost with the return of winger Lawrence Luvanda.

The 26-year-old rejoined the team on Tuesday after being cleared by physios to resume full training following his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Luvanda participated in Friday morning’s training session, and according to head coach Charles Okere, he “looked sharper than ever.”

His return is expected to strengthen Tusker FC's attacking options as they push forward in their campaign for the FKF Premier League title this season.

Before his injury, Luvanda made a significant impact by scoring an 85th-minute equalizer against Police FC three months ago, securing a crucial point for the team after coming off the bench.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, the former Vihiga United player revealed his ambitious goal of scoring eight times in the remaining 17 league matches.

“It’s been a tough journey, but it feels great to be back after the injury. The team and my family have supported me immensely, and they’ve played a big role in my recovery. Now, my focus is on helping the team,” Luvanda said.

“I had worked so hard during pre-season and had hit top form, but unfortunately, the injury came. I’ve worked just as hard to regain my form and aim to be consistent, score goals, and assist my teammates,” he added.

Expressing confidence in the team, Luvanda said: “I’ve been impressed with our progress. I’m returning to find my teammates joint top of the table, so I need to pick up where I left off and help the team win the title. That’s our ultimate goal this season.”

Tusker will look to seize control of the league table when they face Ulinzi Stars in a lunchtime fixture on Saturday.

Head coach Charles Okere, however, will be without assistant captain Mike Kibwage and forward Deogracious Ojok, who are sidelined with injuries.

On a positive note, Mike Oduor, who suffered a concussion in last week’s clash against Gor Mahia, has been declared fit to play.
