Tusker FC are embarking on the 2024/25 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) season with high ambitions and renewed determination to reclaim the league title they last won two seasons ago.

The 12-time Kenyan Premier League champions host Sofapaka FC at the Machakos Stadium on Saturday, August 24 for their season-opening match starting at 4PM.

The Ruaraka brewers have beefed up their squad for the upcoming season with 11 players spread across different positions, and held a residential training camp in Uganda for one week at the start of August.

The preparations and the squad depth leading up to the season opener are among the reasons Kenya Breweries Managing Director Mark Ocitti expects a bright start to the season.

“We are committed to continuing our support to this club and we are sure that we will enjoy more success. They have brought us glory before and we know they will bring glory again, not just locally but also across the border,” said Ocitti.

New Head Coach Charles Okere is also confident his charges will shine, underlining they know the expectations on them by the Tusker family.

“The players have shown that they want to win and that is something that is very motivating to the team. We have received good support from our management in our pre-season preparations, throughout all the six weeks of our pre-season, and we are set to go. Winning the first match will be very important for the whole Tusker family as it will set the mood for our 2024/25 season,” Okere observed.

The 11 new players are goalkeeper Joseph Ochuka, defenders Alex Onchwari, George Kaddu, Dennis Wanjala, and Yussuf Mainge.  In midfield, the Brewers have promoted the promising Teddy Onyango Dok from the club’s youth team.

In attack, the club has brought in 19-year-old Ryan Ogam, seasoned Ugandan striker Boban Zirintusa, Jacob Onyango, together with wingers Eric Naaman Balecho and Thomas Omole.

While in Uganda, Tusker played three international club friendly matches against Bright Stars, Kitara FC, and Lugazi FC, winning the first two in an identical 1-0 scoreline while drawing the third match 1-1.

This was an extension of their near-perfect pre-season friendly matches engagement having beaten a Dandora Combined side 3-0 before hammering Vihiga 4-0 earlier in August.

After the encounter with league Sofapaka, Tusker will then take on Kariobangi Sharks, Kakamega Homeboyz, and Kenya Police FC in September.
