Tricky winger Bageya docks at Homeboyz
Kakamega Homeboyz has announced the acquisition of mid-field maestro Jimmy Bageya from Nairobi City Stars.
Bageya who was dropped by AFC Leopards in January 2016 before joining the Kawangware based club, has agreed to sign a one-year contract which will keep him at Homeboyz till end of season 2019, according to the club’s official website.
City Stars were relegated from the Kenyan Premier League in 2016 and have struggled since then to earn promotion to the to-tier league.
Homeboyz head coach Ugandan Paul Nkata is keen to bolster his side in order to register better results in the second leg.
Club chairman Cleophas Shimanyula said that they opted for Bageya as he brings to the team speed and goal poaching skills. Bageya will be relied upon to feed lethal striker Allan Wanga.
“We want goals and so I have to make sure we sign players like him who will add the fighting spirit in the squad,”Shimanyula said.
The club is planning to bring in five new players before the transfer window close at the end of the month.
Homeboyz has already signed former Tusker FC defender George Mandela and Benjamin Oketch from Chemelil Sugar to strengthen their defensive department.
The club however hopes to bring on board three more players as with Nkata having a variety of options both upfront and at the back.
Homeboyz finished fifth last season and will be aiming to go one step better. They are currently in position 10 in the 18-team league table.
