Defending champions Nairobi City Thunder take on Equity Dumas at the Nyayo Stadium Gymnasium Friday night from 8:00pm, as they look to strengthen their grip on this season's championship.

The Thunder are coming off a 95-77 win against Strathmore last weekend which saw them open their season's second leg account against the university side, winning comfortably to maintain their unbeaten record in this season's campaign.

Dumas on their side are significantly buoyed by their 66-58 win against USIU in their very last league match up, but Thunder boss Brad Ibs wants his players to use the match as a motivation as they gear up for the upcoming BAL season.

"We are trying to save players' legs ahead of BAL, so it is a balancing act for me. It is different from last year when we did not have BAL simultaneously going on. We were able to play each league game sort of to our maximum capacity, but this year it is more of a balancing act.

"I think our game against Strathmore was an example of what we are doing, we are using substitution patterns in a way different than we would do if we are just trying to win one game," explained Ibs.

The Thunder will be making their BAL season debut in the Nile Conference, which tips off on May 17 stretching to 25.

NBK Phoenix versus Stanbic Shields will be the curtain raiser for the clash ahead of the weekend's action, as the league's second leg matches continue.
