Thunder hit century past Krior Star to scent BAL history
National Basketball Premier League reigning champions Nairobi City Thunder continued with their heroic performance in their quest to qualify for the 2025 FIBA Basketball Africa Leaguae (BAL) with a 104-68 victory against Kriol Star of Cape Verde in group A match.
The national champions displayed electrifying performance, cruising past Kriol Star in a fully packed Nyayo Gymnasium and in a basketball night as they secured a crucial win.
Thunder came out strong, establishing a 12-point lead in the first quarter (24–16). Their consistency extended into the second quarter, outscoring Kriol Star 27–14 to close the half with a commanding 51–30 advantage.
After the break, Thunder didn't slow down as they won the third quarter 21-18 before finalizing the last quarter with another convincing victory of 32-20 as the game ended 104-68 at the final buzzer.
Albert Odero, Garang Diing, Uche Iroegbu and captain Tylor Ongwae had combined 56 points for Thunder.
On their side the trio Patrick McGlynn, Dieudonne Ndayisaba and Kenneti Mendes had a combined 45 points for the opponents.
With the two victories, Nairobi City Thunder are already guaranteed a place in the semifinals slated for Monday at Kasarani Indoor Arena.
The competition takes a rest on Saturday before resuming on Sunday for the last group matches where Thunder will take on Bravehearts of Malawi.
