Thika Queens keen to down Zetech

Thika Queens head coach Benta Achieng is focused on sharpening her striking department ahead of their Kenya Women Premier league weekend encounter against Zetech Sparks.

The teams will lock horns at the Thika Stadium on Saturday with the defending champions seeking their fourth league win of the season.

“I can say that the season started well to our side but I am not yet satisfied by our attacking. My strikers are not utilizing chances created in a match and that’s something I have been working on this week to ensure that we defeat Zetech come weekend and grab the crucial three points,” Achieng said.

Thika kicked off the season with 2-1 win against Kayole Starlets on December 18 before falling 2-1 against the new debutants Bunyore Starlets.

They then secured their second and third win in the hands of Gaspo and Nakuru City Queens with 3-0 ad 2-0 scorelines respectively.

After four rounds, Thika are placed third with 9 points and level with Gaspo who have a better goal difference. Former champions Vihiga occupy the summit with 12 points having won all four of their opening matches.

Other matches set for Saturday will see Bunyore Starlets lock horns with Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Mumboha Stadium in Bungoma, Gaspo and Kagemi Ladies will meet at the Stima club, Nairobi while Nakuru City Queens will square it out with Ulinzi Starlets at the ASK Showground, Nakuru.

Two matches are lined up on Sunday where Kayole Starlets will meet Vihiga Queens at the Stima members club while Wadadia will host Kisumu All Starlets at the Mumias Sports Complex.
