Talanta Sports City works on course, says CS Namwamba

Sports Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba is impressed by the rapid progress made in the construction of the Talanta Sports City.

Speaking on Thursday morning, when he inspected the progress of the ongoing construction, Namwamba expressed confidence that the stadium will be ready by December 2025 ahead of CAF inspections.

The Talanta Sports City is a key part of Kenya's infrastructure development program and is essential for the upcoming AFCON ‘27 football showpiece as the nation prepares to co-host the football extravaganza alongside Uganda and Tanzania.

“Looking at the pace of work going on here, no doubt that we are well within our timelines. I’m very confident that Talanta Sports City is well on track for our December 2025 target to test it ahead of AFCON 2027,” he observed.

The project is advancing in stages to ensure each aspect is constructed flawlessly and on time. The CS highlighted that the government is committed to adhering to the planned construction, with regular high-level inspections to monitor progress.

CS Ababu emphasized the importance of creating a world-class sports city that will serve as a source of pride for Kenya and the region.

This aligns with the flagship #TalantaHela program, which aims to nurture sports talent, promote healthy lifestyles, and create a center for sporting events where dreams come true and champions are born.
