Struggling AFC Leopards, Tusker settle for barren draw in KPL encounter
AFC Leopards and Tusker FC will continue to stare at the
relegation zone after settling for a goalless in a Kenya Premier League clash
played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos on Monday.
Both teams were toothless in attack to ended up sharing the
spoils in a match they needed a win to turn around their poor run in the
league.
Tomas Juma’s side was a threat in the first half, forcing
Tusker’s goalkeeper Brian Bwire to make crucial saves to deny Ingwe a
breakthrough.
Leopards continued their attacks in the second half, with
Bwire once again forced to make a fine block from Clifton Miheso’s goal-bound
shot.
Leopards’ keeper Patrick Katasi was also forced to make a
save David Odoyo’s half-volley in the first half and a well-curled free-kick
from Boniface Onyango in the second half.
The draw now sees the Leopards record their fourth stalemate in
their last five games to remain 14th on the log with 11 points, while the
Brewers, who are 12th on the table with 15 points failed to make it
back-to-back wins.
The results also put Robert Matano in the spotlight after
recording two wins in their last eight games.
