Strathmore Blades out to slay Umoja in KNBL clash
Blades registered their first win of the season against league newbies NBK Phoenix last weekend.
They however face a revitalised side in Umoja, who defeated giants Equity Dumas and Ulinzi Warriors last weekend.
Umoja defeated the bankers 87-73 last Friday before crushing the soldiers 68-54 on Sunday while Blades defeated NBK 69-58 on Saturday.
Blades are seventh in the league standings on six points after five outings, losing four matches and winning one while Umoja top the standings, level on nine points with KPA and Eldonets Platinum.
“We know our opponents very well. They have been playing in the league for quite some time. It's only that they have rebranded but we will tackle them. They have very speedy guards, two big names who play very well but we have a good plan for them and we are looking forward to winning.
“Apparently what we know is that it’s a team that is beatable so we shall play our cards close to our chests and two points we will get them,” said Ochieng.
In the women’s premier league, Stanbic Aces tops the league with seven points after playing four matches, winning three and losing one while defending champions Equity Hawks are second with six points after winning all their three games played so far.
