Stars, United warming up for Mombasa NSL derby
Magie says they will be going for maximum points and nothing less, in the clash set to be staged at the Serani Grounds.
The home side Mombasa Stars are currently in 18th on the log with just seven points after two home wins, a draw and 5 losses. Mombasa United on the other end are at position 11 with 10 points, from three home wins and a draw - despite 4 away losses.
"We know our opponents won against Dimba Patriots in the midweek and they are motivated but, am happy our camp is equally energised for the big day.
"I’m sure fans will enjoy good football - 'mpira biriyani,' - since all players from both sides know each other very well. We are more than ready for them,” Magige added.
Last weekend, Mombasa Unite were held to a barren draw by visitors Dimba Patriots, breaking their 100% winning record at home this season.
Despite the slight setback, Coach Hamadi Said observed that it was a positive result.
"We have prepared well since Monday and I’m happy with the positivity in camp. We are ready for derby day. This is my second month with the team and I’m glad there is positivity in the philosophy we are implementing. Soon, things will be different," added the coach.
Mombasa Stars Head Coach Hussein 'Madaga' Mohammed confidently outlined his ambition for maximum points.
"We had a few days to recover since our last game against Dimba on Wednesday, but we are trying to see which players are best ready for the derby. We want the three points, and we know the kind of a match it is," he said.
