Simba Queens boss Makanya backs Shikangwa to bag Golden Boot award
Simba Queens sporting director Selemani Makanya is confident his lethal forward Jentrix Shikangwa Milimu will bag Golden Boot in the Tanzania Women Premier League.
The former
Vihiga Queens forward is leading the top scorers chart with 16 goals, after
round 11 matches.
Shikangwa’s goal
returns has helped Simba maintain the top position with 31 points, five ahead
second-placed JKT as Yanga Princess, Mashujaa Queens, and Alliance Girls wrap
up top five positions in that order.
Shikangwa scored
two consecutive hat-tricks in the 6-2 win against Gets Program and in the 11-0 rout
of Mlandizi on January 22, 2025 to propel her team to the apex of the league.
"She is a
disciplined player on and out of the pitch and her collaboration with her colleagues
in the team is perfect. I have no doubt she will emerge top scorer."
Makanya who was
elevated to the sporting director role a year ago after serving in managerial
position has however urged his charges to be focused and keep winning as they
eye to clinch the title this season.
"Our aim is
to win the league and as you can see we are currently leading. The five points
gap between us and JKT is huge and it's my believe that we will continue
winning matches for us to attain our dream,” he explained. “We still have a
game in hand which we can’t count on but what we are concentrating more; taking
each game at a time.”
Shikangwa is one
of the five Kenyan players plying their trade with the Msimbazi-based side.
Others are; midfielder Corazone Aquino, defenders Ruth Ingotsi, Wincate Kaari
and keeper Carolyn Rufa.
