The poor run by the Kenya Sevens team, popularly known as Shujaa, continued at the Hong Kong Sevens, losing all the Group D matches as the downward spiral shows no sign of ending.
At the Hong Kong Stadium, Shujaa fell 29-5 to New Zealand, 26-14 to
Ireland and 26-17 to South Africa
Against the South Africans, Shujaa had no command, giving away possession
which the South Africans exploited to punish them.
Shaun Williams, Soyizwapi Sivive and Grobbelaar Christie all went over the whitewash with Ricardo Duartee making the conversions, for a commanding
19-0 lead by halftime.
After the break Oyoo Nelson reduced the deficit for Kenya for an unconverted
try but Donovan Don struck again, for the South Africans.
Losing possession seemed to be Kenya’s weakness and subsequent tries
from Jeff Oluoch and Billy Odhiambo could do little to salvage Shujaa.
Collated results
New Zealand 29-5 Kenya
Ireland 26-14 Kenya
South Africa 26-17 Kenya
