Shujaa off to good start in Safari Sevens tournament
Kenya Rugby national team Shujaa got off to a flying start, thrashing Qatar 40-0 in the 26th edition of the Safari sevens played at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.
Head coach Kelvin Wambua said his side Shujaa played with purpose despite not having been tested, noting that they are going to be tested as the tournament progress.
Wambua added that number two team, the Morans, had mixed fortunes losing 14-12 to Red Weilers in the opening match on Friday before beating national rugby circuit champions Kenya Harlequins 14-0 in the second match on Saturday.
" Morans trained for only two weeks, we are going to improve on the performance in the next matches with optimism of bettering on the performance,” he said.
In other matches played today, Uganda beat Kenya Cubs 34-0 before losing 12-7 to Shogun (International Select).
