Shivachi urges FKF to name Stars coach in time for CHAN preps
Shivachi says the uncertainty of who will take over the national side should be sorted out to allow proper preparations and gelling of the team before the CHAN set for August.
"The new coach should be in the team latest in April. This will enhance proper preparations for the CHAN tournament that awaits the three hosting countries Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania.
“We have to remember that competition must be there from our National team as opposed to just participating for the sake of it. Kenya is a rich country in terms of football talent and we have to exploit this for our pride to abide,” he said.
Shivachi has however lauded the strides made by FKF since the new office came in last December.
“I fully understand what the current Regime is doing in ensuring we don't lag behind on matters preparations and perfection.
For the team to shine in the coming tourney the federation needs to accord it maximum support. I am sure that is exactly what the Hussein Mohammed-led office is doing.”
“For the new coach that is expected to come, a lot of heavy work is ahead. He should be given a local tactician to help identify local players good enough to lift our flag high when given the nod to represent the country,” he added.
Harambee Stars are in Group ‘A’ alongside Morocco, DR Congo, Zambia and Angola in the tournament tailor made for domestic-based players.
The tourney will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in August.
