Shimenga eyeing first 7s national title with Butula

Butula High School
head coach Shimenga Livondo has set his sight on
winning the national sevens title at his new school, after failing to
clinch the title last year.
Butula reached the nationals final for the first time but lost to Koyonzo High School, and
Shimenga believes they have the right squad to challenge for the title.
“My aim is to win
this year’s title, last year the players experienced what it means playing at
top level. This time round they know what is expected of them, for us it is to
win the title and nothing less. They have learnt from their mistakes and know
what to do now," said Shimenga
The former St. Peters
Mumias head coach feels they have prepared adequately following last year's
heartbreak.
“Last year there was
a lot of uncertainties whether take place or not and we did not get enough time
to prepare but this time round we have enough time to put in some hard work in
place and get ready for the competition," added Shimenga.
The tactician also
outlined plans to feature in top tournaments ahead of the games, set for March.
“We will play in some
two tournament before the games begin in march and we are hoping to face some
of the teams that will look like a threat in our way to win the title
,”the veteran tactician told Citizen
Digital.
