Shikanda, Macharia under fire for allegedly meddling in the running of FKF lower tier leagues

Football Kenya Federation [FKF] has issued a stern warning to Nairobi National Executive Committee Member Dan Shikanda who also doubles up as AFC leopards chairman and his Central region counterpart Robert Macharia, who is also the Murang’a Seal chairman, demanding they immediately cease their involvement in the running of regional and Division Two leagues or face dismissal at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) scheduled for May 31st.

A consultative meeting held on February 14, 2025, at Lukes Hotel Nakuru and chaired by FKF President Hussein Mohammed, resolved that NEC members must abide by the 23rd June 2021 NEC resolution, which affirms that matters related to regional and Division Two leagues fall under the mandate of the branches.

 “These illegitimate characters and actions put the teams at a risk of nullification of the leagues, as happened during the caretaker committee’s period, where we saw teams like Murangá Seal, Fortune Sacco, APS Bomet, and others incur expansive losses. We cannot sit back and watch the hundreds of teams in Nairobi and the Central region go down that route.”

Shikanda and Macharia stand accused of sidelining their respective branches by directly managing league affairs and establishing unauthorized secretariats and committees’ actions that, according to the 24 Chairman’s Caucus and backed by FKF branch chairmen, are in clear violation of the FKF constitution and the NEC resolutions.

The duo has been given seven days to respond in writing or face a motion for dismissal at the AGM.

“If the above demand is not met, we shall be proposing for discussion in the upcoming AGM, the dismissal of the respective NEC Members,” the meeting resolved.

The FKF insists the two should focus solely on their oversight roles and disband all illegal structures under their watch.
