FKF Premier
League side Shabana are one foot out of the relegation playoff, after a
resounding 3-0 win over Bidco United at the Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay
County.
Shabana needed
the win to revive their hopes of survival in the top-tier league, and they did
it in style when Alvin Ochieng, on loan from Talanta, opened the scoring in
extra time of the first half.
Brian Michira
doubled the Glamour Boys’ lead just after the hour mark, before Lloyd Khavuchi
sealed the sweet victory for the Kisii-based charges.
Shabana are now 15th
on the log with 35 points, two above Sofapaka, with a game to go in the league.
Sofapaka, who
currently occupy the playoff spot, drew 1-1 with Nairobi City Stars in the
other premier league match played at Dandora Stadium.
Meanwhile, Muhoroni’s
survival chances are dangling dangerously, despite thrashing relegated Nzoia Sugar
6-0, with three of the goals scored within eight minutes of the second half.
In the other
results, record champions Gor Mahia suffered only their third loss of the
season, falling 4-2 to Talanta FC, who guaranteed their spot in next season’s
action.
Tusker defeated Posta Rangers 2-1 to secure second place on the log, Kariobangi
Sharks dropped two places to 8th place with a 2-1 loss to Ulinzi, as
Kenya Police cemented third place with a barren draw against Bandari at Police
Sacco Stadium.
