Former AFC Leopards and Shabana head coach Gilbert Selebwa have backed Busia-based minnows HOHA FC to realize their FKF-PL ambitions.

While HOHA currently sit 14th in the FKF Division One Zone B league with 13 points, Selebwa says they will fight to make the cut for the National Super League next season.

“We have planned ourselves very well, and all of us are putting our heads together with one aim to earn the promotion to the National Super League next year.

“Our goal is to ensure we use the shortest time possible to play in Kenya's top tier league, Kenyan Premier League, despite the fact that we are sitting in position 14 currently”, said Selebwa.

Busia currently has no team in the FKF-PL and Selebwa says they'll target turning their season around as they aim to realize their season ambitions.

“It will be a positive gesture and role model move when we finally get that promotion to the FKF Premier League.

As you know, this region of Busia has not had a representative team in the top league, and we want to put this to a stop ultimately”, Selebwa added.

The top teams in Division One Zone A and Zone B are promoted straight to the NSL while the two second-seeded teams face off in a promotion playoff.

“I think from position 14 going up are positions that those teams hanging there will be able to fight for something good.

“When you look at the points the teams have from position 14 to second place, any team can manage to finish second and be able to play in the promotion play-off at the end of the season and we want to fight for that slot”, Selebwa concluded.

HOHA next hosts St Joseph Nakuru at Busia Stadium this Sunday.
